I dragged my Mum to the Cambridge bubble tea outlet, 'Ooshi' (61 Regent Street if anyone's interested) and was greeted by a large number of cute 'ooshi monsters' and was told on the door that if I needed assistance, I should 'call on one of the ooshers'.
The explaining of the flavour system is too complicated to explain, so here is the menu.
Sorry the writing is a bit small. Basically you choose a flavour (milk tea or fruit tea), the type of tea, the style (eg. hot/cold/slooshi), and if you want tapioca pearls or what they call 'ooballs'.
Here is the bar. The bobbles in the silver trays are the ooballs, the powders in the background are flavours, and the machinery is the blender and tea maker.
These are our orders. My mum's (left) was raspberry, jasmine tea, slooshi, with green apple ooballs. Mine (right) was vanilla, oolong tea, hot, with tapioca pearls. The pearls were soft on the outside and chewy on the inside, and were unlike anything I've ever eaten before, but very yummy. The ooballs (when I ate some of my mum's) were zingy and sort of dissolved in your mouth.
The overall experience was very pleasant, I will definitely be returning. There are bubble tea cafes all over the UK, and they're everywhere in Asia (it is an Asian drink). I would highly recommend!!
This wasn't strictly a fashion post, but bubble tea was a very interesting experience, and I just wanted to share it ;P.
